Appucino

Getting Started with Appucino

Appucino adds Chat, User profiles and Leaderboards to your Application through 5 lines of code.

Integrating Appucino is relatively straightforward, and this page gives you an overview of core concepts.

There are four steps to integrate Appucino:

  1. Register on Try Appucino to get a Developer account.

  2. Login and add your application to your Dashboard. If you have a game, define your game modes. E.g. easy, medium, hard so that Appucino knows about your game leaderboards. Once done, you will get a Appucino Application ID.

  3. Download and install the SDK for your platform into your development environment.
Set-up any Google MAP API Keys that are required for the location-based leaderboard.

  4. Call the following functions at the right times in your application :
    a) init – when your application starts
    b) updateScore and doScoreCheckIn – to update and submit any score your application maintains
    c) setDelegate – to handle users starting Challenges from the Appucino Leaderboard
    d) addAppucinoBar, showAppucinoBar and hideAppucinoBar – to control visibility of the Appucino Bar

Place Captures and Challenges in Appucino

The uniqueness of Appucino's leaderboards is that players compete for real-world places through your game.

As a player plays your game, they accumulate a score. On the Game Over screen, you present them with a Appucino Capture button. Appucino then shows a list of places that can be captured with that Score. A higher score always captures any lower score already occupying a place.

Other players of your game can see all places captured in the Appucino Leaderboard. These players can attempt to challenge an existing place. Appucino then starts your game and the player has a target to beat.

Integrating the Challenge handler in your game and configuring your game modes on the Appucino Dashboard accurately is important, for the best player experience.
